As the 1957 Ford Thunderbird was offered to the buying public, Ford promoted the soon-to-be classic in the following manner; “For men and women who treat driving as an art, the Thunderbird is a fine instrument that gives full range to their capabilities. Precise steering, tenacious roadholding, lightning acceleration, long-range cruising speed at normal engine rpm’s, brawny brakes that are light underfoot….what more could you want in a high performance car except, perhaps, comfort and convenience? Of course the Thunderbird stands alone on both of these counts. It’s a daily holiday, a pick-me-up that never lets you down.”

This restored Dusk Rose example has a black and white interior with a rare non-porthole window removable hardtop and a black soft-top. It also has the desirable D-Code optional engine package that translates to the 312-cid, 245-hp V-8 engine. In this case, it has an engine dress-up kit and is connected to a Fordomatic automatic transmission. Among the features on the Thunderbird is factory fender skirts, chrome wire wheels with knock-offs, wide whitewall tires, Town & Country radio, power steering and power seat. It is reported to have been driven only 1,250 miles since the restoration was completed and it is shown through its Ford invoice to have been sold new at Wilcox Ford in Seiling, Oklahoma.
