The introduction of the Corvette in 1953 gave way to an economical sports car market for young adults. The novel idea of using a fiberglass body lowered the cost of production and accelerated the Corvettes debut. The 1954 model was introduced with little change from the previous year. The starter, fuel lines and brake line locations were moved. New colors were available for the 1954 model year, while the soft-top was only offered in beige.

Offered here is a 1954 Chevrolet Corvette finished in blue, and has a rich tan leather interior, that shows almost no sign of age. The stainless trim on the body appears to be in fantastic condition, along with the very straight front grille trim. The car is riding on whitewall bias-ply tires with stainless wheel covers. The inline six-cylinder engine is nicely detailed and is backed by an automatic transmission. As with all Corvettes of this vintage, it is a true roadster that has few factory amenities; this example is fitted with a pushbutton AM radio. The convertible top does show some age, while the VIN tag is reported as not original to the car.
