Alfa Romeo is a luxury Italian car producer that was started in June of 1910. Since their birth, they have rooted their history in racing. One of their many trademark innovations was the use of a twin-overhead cam engine on their 1914 Grand Prix car. When motor sports recommenced after the Second World War, Alfa Romeo became a superior force to deal with in Grand Prix events.
This stunningly designed Alfa Romeo was launched in 1957 with great success. Remarkably the drag coefficient of the Alfa was so low that it took more than two decades for another automobile to match it. Although the car proved to be a bit too heavy for racing, it became a stylish road car, adding bit of grand touring flash to the Alfa Romeo line. The Sprint Speciale is arguably one of the most attractive Alfa Romeos of its era. At the request of many Italian car enthusiasts, Alfas were finally imported into the United States in 1961.
As with all Giulietta Sprint Special’s, it is powered by a DOHC inline four-cylinder that is fueled by dual carburetors. This beautiful car is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission, independent front and rigid rear axle with coil-spring suspension, and four-wheel drum brakes. The curvaceous body is finished in blue paint with complimenting brightwork. Inside, the upholstery is finished in black with a matching red carpet. On the dashboard, the gauges show to be in excellent condition, with no apparent signs of yellowing.
