Here is an outstanding example of a “First Generation” American musclecar. It utilizes one of the era’s most popular cars as the platform, the 1962 Chevy Impala SS convertible. This particular car has been upgraded to a period correct 409-cid, 409-hp car. It has the “QB” code engine with high-performance heads and factory dual four-barrel carburetion and manifold. It also features the proper T-10 four-speed manual transmission that is floor-mounted between the bucket seats. The owner has receipts totaling approximately $7,000 for the engine.
This Impala has received a high-quality, full body-off restoration by a long time Chevrolet collector and restorer. It has travelled less than 100 miles since the refurbishment was completed.
The 409 convertible is a very special car, nicely optioned with the correct Sun tachometer, power steering, power brakes, AM radio, dual rear antennas, dual exterior mirrors, and the low-key “sleeper” hubcaps add a nice touch to the overall look.
The color combination also makes a great statement with Roman Red paint that is nicely complemented by new, factory correct red interior and a white convertible top. According to the owner, the Impala SS 409 convertible runs as good as it looks. It has recently experienced typical mechanical maintenance.
