The most expensive series continued to be the Capri. Exception of chrome rockers it was difficult to tell them from the Cosmopolitans. For the second year in a row, Lincolns captured the top four spots at the Pan-Am Road Race. A fire at General Motors, Livonia, Michigan, transmission plat stopped productionof the Hydramatic Lincolns for 55 days. This reportedly caused the Lincoln to loose 7,000 slaes - 87% of the 1953 Lincolns had power brakes and 69% had power steereing. 2,372 convertibles were built in 1953. It was powered by the 317.5 CID V8 205hp engine. This Capri is a wonderful example of a solid straight western car that underwent a complete professional resotration - from the vinyard green body to the two tone green, white leather interior, green harts cloth top and carpet. Engine and transmission gone through with entire chassis cleaned and painted to factory. This luxury liner runs and drives smooth and quiet. 20,374 actual Texas miles.
