By 1930 Chrysler had become known as an automaker dedicated to engineering excellence and innovation. With each technical triumph bringing increased sales it was an easy leap of faith to see a radical and total engineering driven change as bringing market domination. To this end, a wind tunnel was built at Highland Park and work began on a series of cars dedicated to cutting through the air as easily as possible. While the changes under the skin were also significant, it was the sheet metal that stopped the public in their tracks. Unfortunately, it also stopped them from buying. The Airflow was so unusual looking that the sudden change in appearance was more than the market could embrace. Chrysler as a company was so stung by the failure that it would be many years before they were willing to attempt being a style leader and would content themselves with following the crowd.

This lot offers buyers their chance to own one of the most interesting cars in the history of Chrysler Corporation. Nicely detailed and well cared for, this beautiful example of technical advance will not disappoint.
