Styling and horsepower were ingredients for selling cars in the 1950s, and few applied these principles better than Cadillac. The company’s image was enhanced by some of the classiest auto advertising of the era. Harley Earl was the chief stylist for General Motors during the period when this car was designed. His authorization for the 1948 Cadillac, designed by Frank Hershey, set Cadillac on a trend in tailfin styling that would last for 20 years. This trendsetting Cadillac was the first to market a new lightweight, high-compression, overhead-valve V-8 engine – one of many innovations that earned Cadillac its Standard of the World status. The car on offer is one of 8,367 1953 Series 62 convertibles produced, finished in the rich combination of black exterior, burgundy interior, black top and chrome wire wheels.
