Perhaps one of the most fascinating Dodge trucks produced was the Sweptside edition that was introduced to the public in May 1957 and had a production run from 1957–59. Designed in response to the styling offered by the Chevrolet Cameo and Ford Ranchero; Dodge started with a standard half-ton long-bed pickup and used the back quarter panels from their two-door station wagons for the truck bed sides. Commercial vehicle styling had turned a new corner. With the fin effect, the rear view of the Sweptside was unique and beautiful. For 1958, the front had been redesigned with quad headlamps and a new look horizontal bar grille. Numerous two-tone paint combinations were also introduced. This model of truck was limited to very low production numbers as it was hand built in the truck plants “special equipment” section and never integrated into the production line. It is said that approximately 975 Sweptsides were built in 1958 and less than 100 are thought to exist today.

This 1958 Dodge is restored to a high standard that garnered it a national first-prize award from the AACA. It is finished in Alaska White and Arctic Blue. The cab is styled with a wraparound rear window. The engine is the optional 315-cid V-8 with a pushbutton automatic transmission, and it is fully dressed with wheel covers and bumpers front and rear.
