Perhaps the best introduction to the mind-bending Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer – DLS is the introduction Singer themselves use on their website:

Behind our DLS Services, there was a new question from owners.

“What if Singer evolved that iconic Porsche DNA further, using knowledge born from the world of Formula 1?”

Together with our clients we would pursue a vision for the most advanced air-cooled 911 in the world.

4.0-litre flat six-cylinder engine, approximately 500 bhp with a 9,000 rpm redline, six-speed manual gearbox, rear wheel drive. If the Classic Study was to establish Singer in the marketplace, the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study (DLS) serves to affirm that Singer is still the benchmark in the restomod world, the gold standard of which all its competitors try to achieve. This is the air-cooled 911 at its very, very best.

Built in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering, Williams was responsible for much of the car’s dynamic nature, having entirely redesigned both the front and rear suspension, braking system (boasting similar Brembo carbon ceramic disc brakes to a Bugatti Chiron), analyzing the car’s aerodynamics, and building what many believe to be one of the world’s greatest air-cooled engines. The list of other collaborators in the DLS project is equally impressive: Michelin have designed a bespoke set of tyres, Recaro designed the seats, Momo designed a bespoke steering wheel, and BBS have crafted a unique set of 18-inch wheels bespoke to the DLS.

Named for the Oppenheimer Blue diamond, a 14.62-carat vivid blue diamond that is the largest fancy vivid blue diamond classified by the Gemological Institute of America ever sold at auction, the Oppenheimer Commission boasts a truly spectacular specification, one that exudes class and sophistication both inside and out. Mercedes-Benz Brilliant Blue Metallic was selected for the exterior paint colour, which is wonderfully, yet subtly, contrasted by visible carbon with navy tint gloss lacquer throughout the car.

The most impressive aspect of the ‘Oppenheimer Commission’, as well as the DLS as a model in general, is Singer’s and the owner’s unrelenting incredible attention to detail and their use of only the finest materials, resulting in a number of one-off features even Singer had never done before. The ultimate expression of this is even the underbody of the car was applied with custom-fitted paint protection film by Singer, again something the company had never done before. From aluminum to carbon fibre, to the maple wood gearshift knob, no detail is overlooked in creating a premium experience for both driver and passenger that showcases the quality of materials used in the car’s construction.

The bare carbon trim, especially in the Porsche lettering on the decklid and trim lines along the front and rear bumpers, provide a wonderful visual contrast to the Mercedes-Benz Brilliant Blue Metallic paintwork. The brightwork is polished titanium while the wheels are magnesium. Finally, the taillights have been smoked as to not distract from the car’s colour scheme, a seldom-seen $18,000 option.

Inside, the ‘Oppenheimer Commission’ is awash in leather, carbon fibre, and a splash of Alcantara. The main leather colour is Cream, and this is contrasted by Navy Blue Alcantara perfectly matched to the navy-blue carbon fibre trim. The bucket seats boast a bespoke weave in the seat centers with a double offset stripe finished in navy blue.

Built to LHD specifications but for the UK market, the ‘Oppenheimer Commission’ can easily be enjoyed by its new owner in a variety of markets with minimal modifications. Since completion by Singer in 2023, the ‘Oppenheimer Commission’ has remained in the hands of its first and only owner, having accumulated less than 120 km from the completion of its reimagining by Singer. Simply stated, this is as close to an as-new DLS as one can get.

With just seventy-five examples of the DLS built, the chance to acquire the ‘Oppenheimer Commission’ represents the opportunity to acquire the single most impressive example of the car widely regarded to be the ultimate iteration of the air-cooled Porsche 911.
