Addendum
Please note that we have confirmed that this Dino retains its original engine and gearbox. Furthermore, it is believed that the original color combination was Marrone over beige leather.

Completed by the factory in September 1972, this ‘E-Series’ Dino 246 GT was originally outfitted with factory air conditioning, power windows, and Campagnolo wheels. Destined for the U.S. West Coast, it was sold new to David G. Perry of Reno, Nevada, in late 1972. Its next known owner was Stephen R. Stern of Foster City, California. By 1980, the car had passed into the hands of Neil Johnson of Menlo Park, California. Five years later, chassis no. 04396 had changed hands once more to Greg Woods, also of California.

In 1987 the Dino was purchased by its current owners, and according to the Bill of Sale on file, it was still finished in its current color scheme of grey over a grey leather interior, with its odometer showing 60,249 miles from new. Remaining in their custody for the following three decades, the car resided either in the San Francisco Bay Area or on the shores of Lake Tahoe.

Regularly used and maintained throughout this time yet never fully restored, the 246 GT is accompanied by a number of receipts dating back to 1980, tracing its ownership history through California and Nevada, as well as a proper tool kit, jack, and owner’s manuals. Today, the car presents in largely original condition throughout. The grey leather interior and mouse hair dash present remarkably well and are believed to be original, pairing beautifully with the grey paintwork. More recently, earlier this year four new Michelin SXW tires provided by Coker Tire were fitted to the original Campagnolo wheels. Additionally, the car received an oil change as well as coolant, brake, transmission, and differential fluid flush, some electric issues were addressed, and the water pump has been replaced in an effort to ensure that all systems on the car function properly.

Having spent its entire life in California and Nevada and just over 30 years in the hands of one caring owner, this Dino would be the perfect car for someone looking to drive and enjoy a charming and original example of one of Ferrari’s most beloved models. Having accumulated just over 7,300 miles in the hands of its current owner and following some recent service work, it is ready to return to the road.
