Based on the Sunbeam Alpine, the Tiger was introduced in 1964. Inspired by the success of Carroll Shelby and the AC Cobra, the Tiger utilized a similar configuration equipping the small convertible with a Ford V-8 engine. The Tiger was produced from 1964 to 1967, beginning with the Mark I, then the Mark IA, and finally the Mark II. Once source reports for the 1965 model year, Sunbeam produced 3,020 Tigers.
This 1965 Sunbeam Tiger is presented in Carnival Red (color code 39) with a black convertible top. The vehicle also comes with a factory steel hardtop. The original 260-cid V-8 engine (code 4C30) has been rebuilt and balanced. The engine features Holley four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock F4B aluminum intake, Ford dual-point distributor as well as Club Headers. Included in the sale are the original valve covers. The engine is paired to a close-ratio four-speed top-loader manual transmission with a short factory shift lever. The transmission code is ‘HeHe011167.’ Power is dispersed through a differential which features a 3.30:1 gear ratio. The differential code is ‘H64346.’
The interior features a vinyl wrapped dashboard (this car is reported to be one of the first 300 cars equipped with one), as well as bucket seats completed in black with red piping. It is reported that everything works on the car with the exception of the dealer installed optional clock and heater vent control cable. A new heater vent control cable comes with the car. The owner describes the vehicle as "running strong; and that it is rust free and free from any rust repair."
