To prevent the new Thunderbird roadsters styling from looking too flat, a fiberglass tonneau cover was designed to fit over the rear of the car. Twin headrests were at the front of the cover and were raised enough to give the long rear deck shape.

This 1962 Ford Thunderbird is powered by a 390-cid, 300-bhp V-8 engine that is fueled by a four-barrel carburetor. Shifting gears is a Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. The exterior is painted in white with a matching white convertible top. The car is rolling on Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels with knock-off centers and standard options include: power windows, seats and brakes; pushbutton radio and factory air conditioning. It is reported that only 1,427 were built as factory sports roadsters, and a factory build sheet is included.
