George Wagner founded the Wagner Motorcycle Company, which originated in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 1901. A single cylinder engine that has a side-draft carburetor sends the power through a large belt which in turn rotates the rear wheel. To start it is quite simple, with the rear wheel elevated off the ground you pedal forward which rotates the rear wheel resulting in spinning the belt and turning the engine over.
The simplicity of this motorcycle is fantastic, almost all the servicing that would have been done back then could be completed with very basic tools. Even though this is not the original Wagner chassis, the unique styling of the “loop frame” is period correct for its time and the ability to keep the weight of the engine low to the ground improved handling.
