Named after the legendary Mulsanne Straight at LeMans, the new Bentley Mulsanne of 1980 perfectly exemplified the spirit of Bentley Motors and their sporting heritage. It replaced the much-loved Bentley T2 and was based on the new Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit. Rolls-Royce offered the Bentley marque to clients who wanted ultimate luxury, but still wished to remain relatively understated. For 1987, a revised version called the Mulsanne S was introduced. The S featured the Turbo R style of center console and instrumentation to give the Mulsanne a more distinctly sporting character. Updated alloy wheels, more modern interior appointments and firmer suspension for a sportier ride were all welcome highlights.
Legendary comedian Lucille Ball and her husband, Gary Morton, purchased this Bentley at Beverly Hills Rolls-Royce just one year before her death. This 1988 Bentley was one of Lucille’s last vehicles and Gary Morton sold it to its next owner in 1991. Today, it has only 30,013 original miles and is in impeccable condition inside and out. All the original Magnolia paint, tan leather interior, and straight-grain walnut wood veneers are virtually flawless. Included with the sale are very extensive service records showing thousands of dollars in maintenance, factory hazard roadside kit, owner’s manual and cassette set. This collector owned Bentley has been meticulously maintained since new and is ready for the next owner to enjoy for many years.
