At first glance, this tidy Mercury could be a 1940s or ’50s custom. A closer look, however, shows it to be far more sophisticated, with small-block Chevy power and modern Hydra-Matic transmission. The engine is fed by a Holley four-barrel carburetor through an Edelbrock Performer EPS manifold. In place of the original solid axles and leaf spring suspension is a control arm independent setup in front, with power steering, and trailing arms for the live rear axle. Air suspension is used all around. Brakes are power hydraulic discs in front and drums in the rear.

The interior is done in white pleated leather; the original dashboard retains its speedometer, but has modern gauges for fuel and engine functions. A GM tilt steering column is used, with an APC four-spoke steering wheel. The top is white vinyl with a matching padded boot. Wide whitewall tires with period spinner wheel covers complete the package.
