Herman Kaiser completely restyled all Pontiac models for 1949, and the new Chieftain was introduced that same year. By 1953, the Chieftain featured an enhanced interior, power steering, and “dual streak” trim. At an extra cost of $25, the deluxe trim option included a full-length side spear and chip guards on the rear fenders. This custom Chieftain has a 427 cubic inch V-8 engine, air ride suspension, and an impressive 2,000-watt stereo system. Less than 900 miles have been covered on the vehicle since its restoration. The “tin” wood, black paint, custom wheels, red interior and chrome all present as virtually new due to the extremely low mileage. Another distinctive custom touch is the surfboard style air cleaner and woodgrain engine.
