Regarded by many as the most desirable iteration of Bugatti’s famed Veyron, the Grand Sport Vitesse model pairs the 1,200 bhp quad-turbo W-16 engine with open-top bodywork, making for a truly unforgettable driving experience. Performance remained remarkably similar to the Super Sport, the Vitesse’s closed sibling, as it was capable of achieving 0–100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 410 km/h, making it the fastest production roadster ever built. To further refine the driving experience of the Vitesse, Bugatti’s engineers also took the time to strengthen the chassis in order to reduce body roll during hard acceleration, deceleration, and cornering, ensuring that the car’s performance would not be compromised due to its lack of a fixed roof.
Just 92 examples were built and the example offered here is amongst the last constructed, first emerging from Bugatti’s factory in Molsheim in September 2014 for factory test drives, with final assembly being completed in the following month. Inspired by the car’s original owner’s love of the Transformers films, it features a livery celebrating the iconic franchise in its paintwork and in a handful of other details throughout the car. Finished in light blue with contrasting blue carbon fibre trim, the Veyron sports clear taillights and diamond-cut wheels. The theme of the exterior paintwork carries through to the car’s interior, with matching two-tone blue and black leather with Bugatti’s Sport Comfort seats and blue contrasting stitching throughout. A Transformers logo is inlaid between the seats, mimicking the car’s paintwork. Originally, the headrests were upholstered with the original owner’s first name “Daniel” in the headrest, but these were later retrimmed to remove the name.
Photographs exist in France of the car in early 2015 undergoing road testing, and it spent its early years in the United States. Once arriving stateside, the car was first seen in Los Gatos, California in July of 2015, and then it appeared at McCall’s Motorworks Revival during Monterey Car Week just a few short weeks later. Later that year, it was displayed at the San Francisco International Auto Show.
Returned to Europe and acquired by the current owner in 2015, having only covered just 840 km from new, the car has been enjoyed by him within his impressive collection of supercars, sitting alongside a handful of other modern Bugattis. The car was sent to Bugatti Munich for an annual service in August of 2022, having been driven just under 3,000 km by that point.
For the next service, the current owner elected to enroll his car in Bugatti’s Passport Tranquillité program in December 2022 for a two-year duration, ending in December 2024. This is a pre-paid comprehensive service program that includes the appropriate annual services for the car. This program remains tied to the car rather than the owner, meaning that it can be passed along to the purchaser of this car. It is important to note that under this service package, the next service will be free of charge if undertaken prior to August 31, 2024, and a set of new tyres can be added to this at the request of the owner at the time the service is undertaken. Currently showing just under 5,200 km from new, it remains in excellent condition throughout, as one would expect for such an incredible car offered from an esteemed collection.
An entirely one-off specification, this is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable Veyron’s in existence. It would undoubtedly be a noteworthy addition to any collection.
