As wild of a character as Von Dutch was, some might find it shocking to know that he was actually somewhat of a music aficionado as well. In a 1955 photograph taken by Dig magazine Dutch is posed next to a reel-to-reel tape recorder, something that was quite unusual for the time. Also seen in the photograph is a trumpet that Dutch fabricated into a lamp. Dutch claimed to have turned several horns into lamps after learning to play them. In addition to playing horns Dutch also played the flute. Many might recall the 1981 Best of Hot Rod book (originally shot in 1955), which featured Dutch sitting cross-legged in the back of his truck with an eyeball stuck to his forehead and pin stripping brushes coming out of his ears (as pictured here). Offered here is Dutchs personal flute with the original pin striped case. The flute is in very good overall condition. It is an amazing piece of memorabilia that gives way to a softer and gentler side of Dutch.
