A full generation after it was first produced, the Mercedes-Benz 600 remains an unqualified engineering and stylistic masterpiece, as exclusive and visually imposing as ever. Powered by a 6.3-litre, 300-hp V-8 engine with aluminum cylinder heads and Bosch fuel-injection, the 600 featured a four-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment and delivered prodigious acceleration and high-speed cruising capabilities. A comprehensive hydraulic and pneumatic system powered the self-leveling suspension, assisted the brakes, helped open the massive doors and smoothly and silently operated the seats, trunk, sunroof and windows. With Mercedes’ characteristic attention to detail, each 600 was essentially custom-built. It was available in both 3,200-mm and 3,900-mm wheelbases, the latter of which was available in four- and six-door form, as well as a Landaulet.

Whereas production of the “short” wheelbase 600 amounted to 2,190 units, the long-wheelbase cars, commonly known as “Pullmans,” are considerably rarer, with only 429 built. While virtually all 600s were associated with the best-known and most-influential personalities of the era, ranging from Elvis Presley to Pope Paul VI, this long-wheelbase, seven-passenger Pullman from 1974 was previously owned by Jamiroquai; a British acid jazz band formed in 1992 and fronted by lead singer Jay Kay. Jamiroquai have sold more than 40 million albums worldwide and won a Grammy Award in 1998. This Mercedes-Benz is reported to have appeared in an un-named video by the band when they had ownership.

This particular Pullman is a very late production car and has the interior divider window. It is finished in beautiful Anthracite Gray Metallic and has a black interior. It has been retrofitted with a custom stereo and a refrigerator. The car registers only 48,000 miles on its odometer.

Introduced in 1963, the Type 600 was produced until 1981. It has long been considered the epitome of stately elegance. Legendary Mercedes-Benz engineer, Rudolf Uhlenhaut stated, “We tried to combine a very good boulevard ride in an automobile that could also be driven in a sporty way.” In factory tests this type of limousine topped 120-mph. Ownership means you will always travel in a respected style with sophistication.
