Rod Millen, a New Zealand-born motor sports competitor and designer, has raced in most world venues during his career. He repeated as the champion of the North American Race and Rally in 1980 and in 1981 he won the Sports Car Club of America’s PRO Rally. He won his second series championship in 1985, and back-to-back SCCA National Rally Championships in 1987 and 1988. In the early 1990s he contested the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado for Hyundai, and took the Showroom Stock class in 1992 with a Hyundai Scoupe.
This 1994 Hyundai Elantra was built up for the 1993 Open class. An Elantra with a Mitsubishi Evo 1 turbocharged all-wheel drivetrain, it started strong but stalled in a corner, spoiling chances of placing at the finish. An all-out racer with Pike’s Peak provenance, it is offered strictly as seen.
