239-cid, 100-hp L-head V-8 engine, three-speed Fordomatic transmission, coil spring independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 115-inches.

The 1953 model year was particularly significant at Ford. The faithful flathead V-8 was being phased out in favor of a “Y-block” overhead-valve engine, and luxury touches and options were beginning to appear on upscale models.

This Customline sedan, the top-of-the-line four-door, is equipped with Fordomatic transmission, an AM radio, heater, clock and windshield washers. The interior reveals a period touch: plaid seat covers that completely enshroud the upholstery. Underneath, no doubt, the seats are like new. With fewer than 30,000 miles shown, it is, the repaint and aged brightwork apart, a nearly new car.
