The Series 2 Aston Martin Lagonda launched at the 1976 London Motor Show looking like something out of a science fiction movie. Designer William Towns abandoned the Series 1’s conventional flowing forms for the origami design language popularized by Giorgetto Giugiaro and his Italdesign studio. The interior too was entirely new, featuring traditional leather upholstery and wood trim juxtaposed with fully digital instrumentation, providing a decidedly futuristic driving experience. Only the dependable Tadek Marek 5.3-litre V-8 engine was carried over. The car created an instant sensation, with first deliveries arriving in early 1979.

Announced in January 1986, the addition of Weber-Marelli fuel injection heralded the Series 3 Lagonda, which also gained vacuum fluorescent instrumentation early the following year. By March of 1987, the fourth and final Lagonda series debuted at the Geneva Motor Show with thoroughly revamped bodywork, its sharp edges softened and pop-up headlights replaced with conventional units in a re-designed nose. Wheels also grew to 16 inches and the engine gained more power. In total, Aston Martin produced 645 of the William Towns-designed Lagondas from 1979 through 1989.

This desirable Series 4 example completed production in January 1988 and was reportedly shown at the 1988 Geneva Motor Show before being sold new in April 1988 through Emil Frey AG of Safenwil, Switzerland. Being a Swiss-market car, it featured the low-compression engine and three-way catalytic converters designed for more stringent emissions standards. It is also one of 72 Series 4 examples understood to have been completed with left-hand drive. It was first registered in Germany and an accompanying Farzheugbrief denotes Berlin registration in 1991 with decommissioning in February 2000. It was acquired out of Switzerland in 2007 by a prominent Kuwaiti politician and joined the Boeckmann Collection in 2022 from the Netherlands.

Finished in factory-correct Jaguar Crimson Red over Magnolia leather with Dark Red piping, Beige Alcantara headliner, and Beige carpeting with Dark Red binding, the Series 4 Lagonda represents the final and most desirable iteration of Aston Martin’s groundbreaking wedge-shaped luxury sedan. It is now offered with previous registration and purchase documents, and Aston Martin Heritage Trust certificate.
