Commissioned by Alexander Everest, co-founder of Christ and Cars, this unique Porsche takes its inspiration from the imagery of Revelation 21:21, in which Saint John describes the New Jerusalem: “The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.”

Notably, this very special car represents the first US-built commission from bb-Auto, the acclaimed, inventive German tuner and customizers. Established by Rainer and Kathrin Buchmann in 1974, the firm is now operating in cooperation with Galpin Motors, its exclusive US partner.

The foundation is a 1986 Porsche 911 Targa, transformed through the distinctive bb-Auto front and rear treatment and finished in a custom metallic gold finish whose brilliance recalls the biblical description of streets “as pure as transparent glass.” Every element was considered in the context of Saint John’s vision: the purity of gold, the symbolism of the pearl, the endurance embodied by the materials, and the countless details intended to point beyond the automobile itself.

Within the cabin, mother-of-pearl-backed gauges, encircled by 24-karat gold bezels, evoke the 12 gates of the New Jerusalem, while leather Sparco seats are complemented by extensive hand-finished leather and Alcantara trim along with a custom Morel Elate Carbon audio system, driven by Mosconi amplifiers and Focal subwoofers. An acacia wood shift knob offers another biblical reference, recalling the wood traditionally associated with the construction of Noah’s Ark and the story of deliverance.

Beneath the decklid lies an equally considered, naturally aspirated 4.0-liter Ed Pink Racing engine producing approximately 400 horsepower, with hand-finished, color-matched components reflecting the car’s exterior. Dual oil coolers, Porsche Active Suspension Management, Brembo braking, and Michelin Cup 2 tires mounted to 18-inch HRE wheels provide the substance beneath the symbolism.

Throughout “Streets of Gold,” nothing is merely decorative. The pearl, the gold, the wood, the Scripture, and the painstaking craftsmanship each carry meaning. Together they form an exceptional automobile conceived not only to be admired, but to invite contemplation and inspire reflection.
