As with many of the world’s greatest designs, the iconic Jaguar E-Type was perfected in the months and years after its launch via several revisions introduced to make the car more user friendly. While Series 1 E-Types are the most celebrated, the Series 2 is without doubt the most refined. Stylistic changes amounted to a larger mouth, open headlamps, and larger rear light clusters and wrap-around bumpers, though more significant for the enthusiast were the adjustable seats, improved gearbox and brake calipers, optional power steering, and even air conditioning for some markets.

Chassis 14119 is an exceptional example, certainly ranking among the finest Series 2 E-Types in existence. Completed 11 June 1970, the car was dispatched 21 July 1970 for distribution through British Leyland of New York, finished just as it is today in Regency Red over black leather trim with a black convertible soft-top.

Following acquisition by the consignor, chassis 14119 was treated to a nut-and-bolt, concours-quality restoration. Work began by meticulously documenting the car’s disassembly process to a bare body tub before a respray in its stunning original shade of Regency Red. A member of the Jaguar Club of North America, the consignor ensured each detail was carefully refitted just as it was originally installed in Coventry five decades earlier. Following its completion, the quality of the car’s restoration was much lauded, including wins at the Grand National Roadster Show and British Cars in the Ozarks gathering, as well as earning the Palmetto Award at the 2021 Hilton Head Island Concours d'Elegance. Accompanying the sale are scores of photographs and invoices documenting the close to $100,000 in parts and labor bestowed upon the car during its multiyear restoration.

This exceptional Series 2 E-Type Roadster surely ranks among the finest examples of any E-Type, ready to stand on the concours green and hold its own against any number of fine automobiles.
