Chassis number S209PR is a desirable late-production Springfield-built Phantom I wearing Brewster’s elegant Newport Town Car coachwork. The handsome body was actually designed for use on the Phantom II; however, a select few late Phantom I chassis received this body for the American market.
S209PR has a fascinating and well-documented early history with several prominent New York and Boston families. Build records obtained via the Rolls-Royce Owner’s Club reveal it retains the original engine and coachwork, and extensive receipts and photos document the exhaustive, award-winning restoration. More recently, S209PR was lovingly maintained in an extensive private collection, and it remains in fine running order, with a gently mellowed character to the restoration. Accompanying the sale are history files, service manuals, and an original tool set. A rare and beautiful example of the ultimate Springfield Phantom I, S209PR is ideally suited to touring and events with groups such as the RROC and CCCA.
