Frame-off restored and NCRS certified; this 1972Chevrolet Camaro RS/Z28 was first sold in 1972 by Berger Motors: The Performance Experts (documented). The complete frame-off restoration is reported to have been executed in a manner that saw each and every metal part, glass beaded down to the original surface and refinished. The owner states that the Camaro is correctly finished throughout and has a beautifully detailed red oxide primer undercarriage. The RS/Z28 is finished in its original color of code 65 Orange Flame (from PPG) with Black stripes and Black interior. The engine is reported as being the correct 350-cid LT-1 V-8 that has been rebuilt at .030 over. The rebuilt four-speed Muncie transmission is also reported as correct to the car, as is the rebuilt 10-bolt 3.73:1 geared Posi-traction rear end that included new bearings and seals.
Additional description of the restoration includes that the car has its original factory aluminum intake and the correct Holley 780-cfm dual-feed has been rebuilt to factory specifications. The correct 11-inch cast iron disc brakes are found at the front and the correct standard 9.5-inch drums are at the back. The brakes include all new rotors, drums, calipers and hardware with new brake lines from front-to-back. There is a new power steering gearbox, pump and pressure lines.
The interior has also received this incredible detailing that includes all seat springs and frames sandblasted and powdercoated; then all reupholstered using the proper factory matching material and new foam. The owner conveys that “every single part of this car was completely gone through and if each and every part was not perfect, it was replaced. Best of the best quality!” Over 200 pictures of the restoration process were taken to document this painstaking process.
This exciting Camaro RS/Z28 has front and rear spoilers, factory five-spoke Z28 steel wheels painted dark gray, sport mirrors with driver’s side remote, factory AM/FM radio, RS package, bucket seats, center console, plus all of the instruments, radio and clock function properly. The second generation Camaros continue to rise in prominence and this is, with little doubt, one of the finest currently available.
