The Malibu is a car that quietly, but emphatically says ‘first class.’ When the Malibu was first introduced in 1964, its original market was a premium sedan for families and was intended to compete with the Ford Fairlane. However, the musclecar war was raging and Chevrolet couldn’t ignore it. Soon afterwards, the Malibu SS was born. Later in 1966, the Chevelle SS assumed the role in the musclecar lineup, while the Malibu would continue to be a sporty premium model. Described as a nicely appointed Chevelle, the Malibu found its distinction through the use of bright lower bodyside and rear moldings.

This Bolero Red example is the popular convertible model that runs with a 283-cid, 195-hp V-8 Turbo-Fire engine that is matched with an automatic transmission. The white soft-top is power operated; additional equipment includes Rally wheels, AM radio; power steering and brakes. This is reported as a machine in need of restoration and attention; a most worthwhile endeavor for a mid-‘60s Chevy convertible.
