For 1958, Corvette received updates to the body and interior, which included a longer front end with quad-headlamps, bumper-exiting exhaust tips, exterior brightwork, a new steering wheel, a passenger grab-bar, seatbelts and dashboard with all gauges mounted directly in front of the driver; including a 160-mph speedometer. Design exclusives to the 1958 model were hood louvers and twin trunk spars. Enthusiast magazines of the period were quite positive about the mechanical changes and suitably impressed with the cars performance and handling, all at a reasonable price. With 9,168 units produced, the Corvette was one of only a few domestic car models to increase its sales figures in 1958.
Benefitting from a high quality frame-off restoration, this example is finished in red with a red interior and features the 283-cid V-8 engine that produces 270 horsepower and an automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes an AM/FM Wonderbar radio, wide bias-ply whitewall tires and the correct 1958 hubcaps. This Corvette is restored to high standards, which includes having the correct washer bottle, carburetors and hose clamps. The car has never been shown; it is stated to be a “great candidate” for NCRS and Bloomington events.
