Produced on GM’s new compact unibody Y-platform, the Buick Special was powered by a new innovative aluminum 215 cubic inch V-8 rated at 150 horsepower. Appearing like a page out of the 1961 sales brochure, this little coupe is believed to correctly show just under 11,400 miles on the odometer and can trace its roots back to Indiana. It has a two-barrel carburetor, single exhaust, an automatic transmission, AM radio and power steering, the original spare and tools can still be found in the preserved trunk compartment. The body has been repainted and the seats re-covered in an effort to maintain a like-new appearance, but the engine compartment has been retained largely untouched with a nice patina. These vintage Buick Specials are very rarely found on the market.
