The car is powered by its 254-cid, 128-hp inline Super-Eight engine connected to the then revolutionary and optional Super-matic Drive transmission. This system of drive monitors the engine’s dynamic power by Super-matic Drive, another exclusive engine development by Hudson engineering. Uphill or down, on a long straightaway or in demanding traffic, your own requirements are able to dictate the swift, silent shift from one gear to the next. Super-matic Drive was the only automatic transmission that would shift gears only when you wanted to shift and that combines with fuel-saving overdrive. And at the time it was the only automatic that could be instantly put into conventional drive at the press of a button on the instrument panel. It is set up with a three-pedal layout utilizing the clutch for take-off and then no clutch pushing or shifting.
