This 1949 Chrysler New Yorker features the 323.5-cid Spitfire L-head, eight-cylinder engine rated at 135-hp, semi-automatic Prestomatic transmission, directional signals, clock, radio, luggage compartment lamp, optional chrome full wheel covers, heater and defroster, dual outside mirrors; along with a period correct, color matching, adjustable exterior windshield visor. Additional features include wool broadcloth interior, two-speed electric windshield wipers, Safety-Cushion dash panels (an industry first) and rear seat center armrest. Utilizing the first post-war designs from Chrysler, the 1949 New Yorker was promoted as “Distinctive…Distinguished…The Finest of a fine line” and made extensively of chrome and stainless steel accents.
