As if the standard Viper was not aggressive enough, Dodge introduced the track-ready ACR at SEMA in 2014. The car’s 8.4-liter V-10 engine, capable of producing 645 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, remained unchanged, although a number of other significant revisions were made to further enhance the model’s performance. For the first time with the Viper, the car was fitted with a Brembo-built braking system that used carbon ceramic brake discs. Handling was further improved with an adjustable suspension manufactured by Bilstein and a set of bespoke tires produced by Kumho specifically for the ACR trim level. A six-speed manual was Dodge’s sole transmission offering for the ACR, and a capable limited-slip differential helped manage power to the rear wheels.

By January 2018, Dodge had ceased Viper production, and final production figures show just 585 United States-market chassis sold during the model’s last production year.

Commemorating 25 years of Viper production and the final model year of the fifth generation, Dodge released the ACR VoooDoo II Edition. The Viper on offer is number 29 of 31 built. Modeled after the original VoooDoo edition released in 2010, the second iteration shares the exterior treatments of the original with Venom Black paint with a Graphite Metallic ACR driver strip and red tracer outline. Inside, the Club Racer’s interior is finished with silver accent stitching, black leather, and plenty of Alcantara.

These special-edition cars’ performance potential is cranked up to the max with the addition of the Extreme Aero Package. This option drastically increased the downforce thanks to a kit of removable aerodynamic devices fitted throughout the car. Up front, hood extractors and over-wheel-arch vents possess removable louver panels to relieve pressure. Two canards are fitted on each corner, and the carbon fiber splitter receives a detachable extension with support struts. Out back, a larger dual-element rear wing sits higher and farther back than on the standard ACR. In addition, it features vented endplates and a unique Gurney flap. The six carbon fiber diffuser strakes on the underside of the vehicle receive polyethylene extensions that maintain contact with the ground, helping to seal the crucial air flowing beneath the car. All together, these elements are capable of producing a thoroughly impressive 1,200 pounds of downforce at 150 mph.

Delivered new to Florida, this Viper shows just 1,825 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloguing. It will be accompanied by a car cover, tire inflator, and detachable cup holders. Few vehicles can make legitimate claims to the “racecar for the road” title, but the American Club Racer Viper unquestionably earns this distinction. The ultimate expression of America’s home-grown supercar, this Dodge Viper ACR VoooDoo II Edition is truly a superlative track day weapon.
