The main marketing point for this year was the new, high-compression “Rocket” V-8 engine. This powerful engine now replaced the long running inline six-cylinder engine. Standard features included a cigarette lighter, bumper guards, stainless steel moldings, a dome light, lined trunk and rubber floor mats. On the deluxe cars a few additional items are noted: stainless steel gravel shields, rear ash tray and foam seat cushions. For this year less than 4,000 of these models were reportedly built.

This Super 88 has had a frame-on restoration and is elegantly finished with Chariot Red paint that is complemented by lovely brightwork, a white convertible top, fender skirts, full wheel covers and almost-new whitewall tires. Powering the Oldsmobile is a 303 cubic inch, 135 horsepower V-8 engine with dual exhaust. Transferring power to the rear wheels is a Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Inside the upholstery has been finished with plain-stretch leather. Other amenities include a rarely seen clock in the steering wheel; and an in-dash stereo. The car has been converted to a 12-volt system; because of this the owner states the radio is not working.

In 2015 the brake shoes were replaced and two new hydraulic convertible top pumps were installed. The owner reports that the original clock in the steering wheel has been replaced with a time period compass. The original clock is included with the sale of the vehicle.
