With a custom modification that is well-executed and appealing to the eye; this 1949 Mercury has been chopped four-inches, had the door handles shaved and finished with the details nicely attended to. The purple finish has ghost flames and the custom white vinyl interior has bucket seats and center console. The beautifully presented Lincoln V-8 engine is connected to an automatic transmission with a shifter to challenge ape-hangers on a chopper. The engine bay is presented in a clean, meticulous fashion and accented with pinstripes. Among the features on the Merc are airbag suspension, twin bullet-shaped spotlights, dual sideview mirrors, tilt steering wheel, a 1953 to ’55 era Corvette grille, Classic white-faced analog gauges, vintage Dodge hubcaps, whitewall tires, Turnpike Cruiser rear skirts, a Kaiser bullet-style rear bumper, plus power rack-and-pinion steering. This custom Mercury seems to look “just right” from every angle.
