The 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air included everything standard that was on the lower priced models, plus more comfort, convenience and enhanced styling characteristics. There were a wide assortment of body styles and models to choose from, along with a wide assortment of colors and interiors, but less than 10 percent of production was Bel Air convertibles making them the most desirable and sought after Chevy’s of that year. For 1955 came the new, reliable small-block V-8 engine that became an automotive legend; V-8 powered Bel Airs became an immediate success becoming the best-selling American car of 1955 with almost 771,000 being produced.
