Car culture changed in the early 1960’s when Americans started thinking less about chrome, fins, wood, and soft suspensions, and took notice of horsepower, torque, and handling. Soon, street and strip racing filled the minds of young drivers across America, and dealerships rolled muscle cars out the door as fast as the factories could make them. Each automobile manufacturer had its own approach to satisfy, and ultimately win, new buyers.

The Super Sport name had become synonymous with performance on Chevys, and in 1966 it was possible to have the power and great styling in a mid-sized Chevelle. This Super Sport is equipped with a 396-cid, 360-hp V-8 engine that is married to a four-speed manual transmission. Before the professional nut and bolt restoration, this car was an excellent rust free example. The 325 horsepower version was standard, but it was possible to order your car with 360 or 375 horsepower. Three-speed manual transmissions were standard, but a four-speed or a powerglide automatic could be had for an extra price.
