The M37 still relied on Dodge’s stalwart 230 cubic inch 78 horsepower flathead straight-six, it also had a two-speed transfer case, four-speed manual transmission and four-wheel hydraulic brakes. Production continued with variants from cargo and personnel carriers to fire apparatus until 1968 with 115,000 built.

This 1953 M37 is pickup bodied and has been thoroughly restored and finished in a grey US Navy livery. At each end of its 112-inch wheelbase are new 9.00/16 non-directional military tires on five-lug wheels, and inside the eight-foot bed there is bench seating on each side as well as a spare wheel. Completing the military look at the back of the tailgate are an axe, a pick and a shovel.

The simple, functional interior features olive green cloth seat and top, roll-up side windows and opening windshield. Although this sturdy vintage M37 has been properly restored, it has not been overdone and is therefore still solid and usable in all sorts of situations, just as it was always meant to be. Most M37s were driven into the ground, sacrificed in combat or sent to other countries in military support programs, making this a rare opportunity to preserve and enjoy a rugged, reliable American workhorse.
