When the Malibu was first introduced in 1964, its original market was a premium sedan for families and was intended to compete with the Ford Fairlane. However, the musclecar war was raging and Chevrolet couldn’t ignore it. Soon afterwards, the Malibu SS was born. Later in 1966, the Chevelle SS assumed the role in the musclecar lineup, while the Malibu would continue to be a sporty premium model. Described as a nicely appointed Chevelle, the Malibu found its distinction through the use of bright lower bodyside and rear moldings.
Offered here is a Chevelle Malibu that is believed to be largely original, aside from a lacquer repaint in the 1990s. The newer red paint displays well along with the black vinyl top. The outside is accented with polished trim moldings and steel wheels wrapped with redline tires. Under the hood the engine bay is presented in a tidy manner with a 283-cid V-8 engine and power steering. The interior is finished in red with front bucket seats, center console with clock, a pushbutton radio, rear window defroster and deluxe seat belts.
This car has lived a life of easy driving and garage storage, which shows from its current condition. The important vehicle paperwork is included with the purchase of this Detroit musclecar.
