The success of the compact and utterly conventional Ford Falcon drove Chevrolet to respond with the introduction of its Chevy II line in 1962. Despite introducing the innovative rear-engined and air-cooled Corvair in 1960, sales trailed that of the Falcon prompting Chevrolet to introduce its equally conventional Chevy II model. The Nova moniker was used to denote the highest specification Chevy II’s eventually becoming the sole series nameplate. One step more in the hierarchy was the sport SS or Super Sport model.

The 1966 Nova offered customers an attractive redesign and a myriad of engine choices, though only 5,481 lucky buyers were able to secure the top-end Nova Super Sport fitted with the 350 horsepower L79 Corvette engine. The L79 Nova SS did not make Chevrolet’s lineup for 1967. Its rarity and legendary performance established the 1966 L79 Nova SS as the most desirable car among Nova enthusiasts. This stunning Nova SS is presented with provenance that includes MacNeish certification as an original L79 car.

This beautiful L79 Nova SS in Turquoise Metallic over a matching vinyl interior retains all of its original body panels. The perfect door shut lines show the quality of the restoration. The option list reveals stainless wheel lip moldings, bumper guars, dual exhaust, bucket seats, center console, wood steering wheel, AM-FM radio and accessory tach. With no mileage since its ground-up restoration, this L79 will be the envy of muscle car lovers everywhere.
