Love it or hate it, the Edsel was different and unmistakable. With the clarity of hind sight, the cars appear attractive to today’s collectors. The non-finned body design is really quite subdued and conservatively elegant compared to the competition of the era. Mechanically, the Edsel was identical to the strong and reliable Ford engines and transmission. With only 1,343 examples produced, the Edsel Corsair convertible was the top-of-the-line offering. Presented in paint Code FF Presidential Red, this example is undoubtedly one of the finest of its kind. It is believed that the 332-cid V-8 engine and Mile-O-Matic automatic transmission are original to the car. The engine bay itself is quite clean, with only light patina from age. Aftermarket air conditioning has been installed, and the power steering unit is a real plus. The paint was refinished years ago, but it still shows especially well, with a commendable panel fit and a light patina on the stainless trim. The white convertible top has also been replaced, as well as most rubber moldings. Wide whitewall tires, color matched spinner wheel covers and dual fender mirrors further enhance the beauty. A spare and jack with instructions can be found in the like-new trunk area. This convertible is among the most elusive of all Edsels and is an outstanding example of the marque.
