Presented here is a fascinating example of BMW’s legendary 2002 Turbo. Of the 1,672 examples produced, two colour options were available, Chamonix White and Polaris Silver. The majority of these cars left the factory in Chamonix White, while roughly 600 were finished in Polaris Silver, like the example here.

Chassis no. 4290709 was sold new in Kristianstad, Sweden on July 22, 1974 and amazingly, it has remained in Sweden for its entire life. Remaining with its original owner for just under two years, it was sold to its second owner in Oskarshamm, who would go own to keep the car for the following thirty-four years. In his ownership, the car was always well maintained and properly cared for. Sold it is third and current owner in March of 2010, he purchased a 2002 Turbo new in 1974 and after selling his car in the 1970’s, always missed having a 2002 Turbo in his garage. Upon acquiring this car, the car was restored and full repainted, and it received an engine-out service and checkup.

The consignor states that the car starts right up with no problems and the four-speed manual transmission works flawlessly, with the clutch and brakes in good, roadworthy condition. Incredibly, the car still retains its original ignition and trunk key, as noted in the car’s original service book. Truly an incredible 2002 Turbo, finding a similar example with a known history from new and its original engine would prove challenging. As such, this 2002 Turbo warrants serious consideration.
