Penned by Filippo Sapino of Pininfarina, the 365 GTC/4 marked a sharp change in design ideology for Ferrari. The 365 GTC/4 made its debut at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show and was not intended as a replacement to the 365 GT 2+2, rather a practical coupé in its own right. As such, air conditioning and power steering were supplied as standard, the suspension was softened, and a five-speed manual transmission was installed.

According to a report from marque expert Marcel Massini, this GTC/4 was manufactured in January 1972, finished in Avorio The Tetrarch, over a Nero Cogolo leather and tartan cloth interior. On 18 April 1972, this Ferrari was imported by Luigi Chinetti Motors of Greenwich, Connecticut, U.S.A., and later sold new to Gordon Tatum of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Chassis number 14921 was offered for sale on 5 April 1979 by Tatum in the Ferrari Market Letter.

This Ferrari changed hands between various dealers from 1979 to 1982. In August 1982, an advert posted in the Chicago Tribune by Continental Motors of Hinsdale, Illinois, stated the car had covered only 2,000 miles. In January 1984, this GTC/4 was bought by its next owner in St. Louis, Missouri—with a claimed odometer reading of 6,721 miles. In January 1990, a subsequent owner in Hot Springs, Virginia registered the car and kept it for more than a decade, before it moved on to its next owner in New Jersey in July 2001, with the odometer climbing only slightly to 6,827 miles at the point of sale. In November 2002, the GTC/4 was listed with “6,800 original miles” in an advert.

Today, this GTC/4 is finished in red and retains the factory-correct Nero Cogolo and tartan cloth interior. The odometer displays 7,697 miles at the time of cataloguing and the car is offered with a former U.S. title, a history report published in the Ferrari Market Letter archives, and a Massini report.
