Over 630 Horsepower on the Track With this Twin‑Turbocharged Porsche 962 Racer

Weighing a scant 820 kg, yet boasting over 630 horsepower in-period, the fearsome Porsche 962 virtually dominated every Group C event in which it was entered.

This Works-campaigned chassis is only one of three built for the official Rothmans Porsche factory team and competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on three separate occasions; the list of famous former drivers who raced it reads like a hall-of-fame of 20th century motorsports. Added to that list is Ben Collins, himself a multi-year Le Mans veteran, perhaps most famous for his role as The Stig on BBC’s “Top Gear.” Always a bucket list car for Collins, watch as he tackles this air-cooled icon on the track of Donington Park circuit, listen to the distinctive sound of its twin-turbocharged, flat-six engine, and register to bid on it at RM Sotheby’s Le Mans auction on 9 June 2023.
