Form Follows Function: 1988 Porsche 959 Komfort

With samurai ancestry stretching back eleven centuries, Satoru Iwata deeply understands the concept of honor and reputation.

Attributes like these are what drew Mr. Iwata to the Porsche brand and, in particular, the 959 supercar. As the owner and guardian of a 1988 Porsche 959 Komfort for the past thirty years, Mr. Iwata was the careful caretaker of this example, storing it indoors and bringing the mileage only to 9,500 kilometers (~5,900 miles) total. Listen to Mr. Iwata discuss his decision to pass this Porsche supercar to the next generation, offering the well-kept example at RM Sotheby’s Monterey 2023 auction.
