Driving the Legendary '2.3'

A Closer Look at this Highly Original Example

When this Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 had finally roared to life, it was at the cusp of Alfa Romeo’s dominance in racing. While sporty racing cars were not of the usual norm, Alfa’s 8C 2300 became one of the first—a joy to drive as well as a pleasure to take to victory on track. Within its four years of production, the 8C won Le Mans, the Targa Florio, the Italian Grand Prix and the Mille Miglia—a feat any other sports car has yet to accomplish.  And while Alfa Romeo hadn’t planned to provide such a fierce competitor to the public, it did eventually build 188 cars for the road. The cars were as fun on the road as they were on the track.

This particular example is one of those 188 and remarkably unrestored. RM Auto Restoration’s President, Don McLellan, takes you through the unique quirks and unrestored componentry that make up this magnificent machine on offer at our Monterey sale, 15-17 August 2024.
