A young Douglas Stearly, who in time would also give a ride to a very young Mario Andretti), would take this his newly purchased 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster to the hottest place to race at the time—Nassau Speed Week, where he would race with the likes of greats like Stirling Moss, Phil Hill, and Carroll Shelby. Stearly’s son, and one of his original crew members, talks about Stearly’s racing stint with this very 300 SL.
