Gord Duff joined RM Sotheby’s in 1998 and has literally worked his way up through the company – going from detailing cars, to delivering cars, to working lineup at the auctions, and eventually, through those carefully built relationships, into one of the industry’s most successful and trusted specialists. In one instance he recalls transporting a Duesenberg for one owner early in his career, selling it at the Andrews Collection sale in 2015, and more recently selling it yet again, to another longtime client, in 2023—a car that has touched each milestone of his career.

His consistent success is credit to that lasting trust maintained between himself and his clients, who often have confidence in Gord buying high-value cars on their behalf, and then, down the road, give him the responsibility of managing the sale of their collection. Accordingly, Gord has been at the forefront of some of RM Sotheby’s most significant successes. He was a leading force behind the creation of the groundbreaking and enormously successful Miami 2022 sale, and consigned the Masterworks Collection, including a future Pebble Beach Concours Best of Show-winning Mercedes-Benz 540 K Special Roadster and the legendary Hispano-Suiza H6C ‘Tulipwood,’ to Monterey 2022. More recently he consigned the Dare to Dream Collection, the highest-grossing single private collection sale in RM Sotheby’s history.

Gord is also active in Private Sales and a partner in RM Auto Restoration, and is proud of the opportunities that RM’s wide range of services can accordingly offer. This is best witnessed by the successful quiet reuniting of the original components of the famed Figoni-bodied Duesenberg Model J Torpedo, which, after resurrection by RM Auto Restoration’s skilled craftsmen, was judged Best of Show at Pebble Beach in 2022.

Off the block, Gord enjoys participating in rallies, and can also be seen exercising his own ‘family cars,’ including a 1966 Shelby GT350, 1934 Packard Twelve, and 1977 Porsche 911 Turbo, which all serve as his regular transportation during Ontario summers. Each of his three children has grown up riding in fun cars, beginning the next generation of passionate, hardworking enthusiasts from the ground up.
