During the 1940s and 1950s, Allard was a greatly respected auto manufacturer. This rare L-Type sport touring car is a right-hand drive example that is beautifully finished in burgundy with gray leather interior, soft-top, tonneau cover and side curtains. The leather is new, as is the Wilton wool carpet. The dashboard is made from distinctive Indian rosewood.

The uncommon Allard L-Type is based on a Ford chassis and runs with a Ford flathead V-8 engine mated to a three-speed floor-shift manual transmission. The cascading contours seen at the front of the car are dominated by its distinguishing grille design. The Allard also exhibits foglights, a rear-mounted spare with cover, color-keyed steel wheels, hubcaps and whitewall tires.

According to sources in the know, only 191 L-Type Allards were constructed from 1946 to 1948. Of this small number, only 19 are said to remain worldwide, with just seven of these located in the United States. Quite rare indeed, its offering marks an excellent opportunity to purchase a seldom-seen example from one of the pioneers of pure Anglo-American ingenuity.
