With its spectacular, high-revving 4.8-liter V-10 engine, bold styling, exquisite engineering, and impeccable build quality, the Lexus LFA immediately established a reputation as one of the world’s most formidable—if wonderfully unexpected—supercars, following its debut at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. Far from merely an exclusive show piece, it achieved multiple class victories at the grueling Nürburgring 24 Hours in racing trim. To honor the model’s victories, and to push the LFA’s already impressive performance envelope even further, Lexus developed the fittingly named Nürburgring Package. It was a resounding success: In August 2011, a road-legal example conquered the Nürburgring Nordschleife in an astonishing 7 minutes, 14.64 seconds, setting a record for a production car on spec tires.

Changes made for the LFA Nürburgring Package were numerous. At first glance, what stands out are the various carbon-fiber exterior components. Lexus fitted a revised front splitter, fixed rear wing, and winglets on the nose, all in the incredibly lightweight woven material. Although these aerodynamic aids increased the car’s overall downforce and thus threatened to reduce its top speed, Lexus engineers compensated by coaxing an additional 10 horsepower out of the engine. Total output for the Nürburgring Package was 562 brake horsepower, managed through an improved six-speed automated manual transmission with shift times decreased by 0.15 seconds. Additionally, the standard wheels were replaced with lighter ones made of magnesium and shod in more aggressive Bridgestone tires. Finally, the ride height was reduced by 0.4 inches lower the car’s overall center of gravity and improve handling.

Of the original 500 LFAs produced, just 64 examples received the Nürburgring Package, with just 25 of those being sold to the United States. Number 15 of those 25, serial number 371, is offered here. It left Japan’s Motomachi plant in June 2012 clad in code 9K5 Orange with Forged Graphite wheels over a black Alcantara and carbon-fiber interior with orange stitching. This stunning livery adorns just seven Nürburgring Package LFAs sold to the United States, of which this car is now the lowest-mileage example.

Delivered new to McGrath Lexus of Westmont, Illinois, LFA 371 was retained for many years by the dealer in a near time-capsule state. Now displaying just 143 miles, with 39 of those accrued by Lexus engineers prior to delivery, the car is again offered in essentially as-new condition. Presented with a full array of important LFA items, it is accompanied by copies of its window sticker, delivery documentation, and a number of accoutrements individualized to the car, including a full set of Tumi luggage, a crystal block with wooden stand, and a hardback coffee table book documenting the car’s construction. A factory LFA car cover and bag, pen, flashlight, tire inflator kit, two spare keys with fobs, and one carbon fiber-key are included as well.

One of the most spectacular and anticipated Japanese automobiles of the 21st century, the LFA was years in the making and exceeded all expectations upon its delivery to clients worldwide. Adding to its substantial performance and visual appeal, the Nürburgring Package cars are undoubtedly the most desirable of this already limited-edition supercar and rarely seen in public or offered for sale, making this a rare opportunity indeed.
