As Ferrari prepared for its landmark 70th Anniversary celebration in 2017, the company decided that a proper way to celebrate would be to produce a limited run of cars finished in 70 different liveries, all representing both important models and specific historic cars from its past. This project provided a wonderful opportunity for Ferrari to celebrate the automobiles that had created its rich heritage, while also showcasing the abilities of the factory’s Tailor Made department. Each of the 70 liveries would be featured on one example of each of Ferrari’s five production models at the time—the 488 GTB, 488 Spider, California T, GTC4Lusso, and F12 Berlinetta.

The car offered here is the only 488 Spider that was delivered in 70th Anniversary livery dubbed Bold Yellow (41). One of the most memorable models of the 1960s, the Dino 206 Competizione show car of 1967, inspired this color scheme. The body was finished in the enthralling hue of Giallo Triplo Strato, with an interior in fine-grained Nero and ribbed Ichiostro leathers set off by Electric Blue Alcantara carpets and matching blue seatbelts. Exterior touches included sport exhaust pipes, and carbon-fiber elements for the front spoiler, rear air ducts, side air splitter, B-pillar trim, rear diffuser, and sill covers. As a result, the car was a true connoisseur’s model, with subtle special features recognizable to tifosi, but also an enthralling combination of colors to draw attention anywhere it went—most prominently the striking body color, one of the most desirable on any modern Ferrari.

Sold new by Ferrari of Seattle at a manufacturer suggested retail price that included $55,915 for the 70th Anniversary Package and $87,492 in additional special features, this 488 Spider was shown at the 70th Anniversary celebrations held at Pebble Beach in August 2017. It has resided with its present owners since 2020 and remains in excellent overall condition with only 1,572 actual miles at the time of cataloguing. Accompanied by its coveted Classiche Certification Grey Book and presentation box, this 488 Spider 70th Anniversary Edition is a marvelous piece of modern Ferrari engineering in a special livery commemorating the thrills of Ferraris past.
